# HTML Control
The HTML Control custom field type allows you to place HTML content within your custom field groups.

This field type can be used to enter in-line documentation and guidance to your users, but can also be used to apply custom formatting to various sections within your custom field groups, as can be seen in the example.

### Add HTML content
Click the pencil icon to enter the edit HTML view, then enter your HTML tags alongside your text.

Use the hyperlink icon on the lower left of the formatting toolbar.
