# Adding new tax details
This lesson will show you how to add new tax details and edit existing details.
### Adding new tax details
To add a new set of tax details, click the **Add tax** button above the default setting. New tax rates are useful as you may wish to use different taxation for material products compared to services, also different locations can incur additional taxes.
### Entering new tax details
To enter new tax details, fill out the fields. You must enter a name for the new tax option as well as the amount as a percentage of tax that must be paid. Checking the **Default** check box will set this new tax rate as the default.
Once you have entered your new tax details, click the **Save Tax** button to complete your new option.
### Editing existing tax details
To edit existing tax details, click the **Edit** button on the dropdown menu opposite the option you wish to edit. This will open the tax details page where you can edit existing tax rates in the same way as you would create a new option.
